Privacy

Privacy, in plain words.

Lumi runs on your Mac. Loomtable has no servers for it, no accounts and no analytics. This page explains what Lumi reads, where it goes, and how this website works.

Effective 21 October 2026

The Lumi app

Lumi is a Mac app that works through your harness, the AI setup you already use (today, your own Claude Code). Lumi has no servers of ours: there's no Loomtable account to make, and Lumi sends us nothing, including no usage analytics.

What it reads, and when

Lumi only looks when you press the key. Then it reads:

  • the app and window in front;
  • your selected text, the element under the pointer and whether the focused field is editable;
  • what the front app is showing, where Lumi can tell: a terminal's folder and command, a local dev server's port and folder, an editor's project and file, a chat's channel and thread, a Finder folder and its selection;
  • which apps you used recently, and your displays' layout;
  • a screenshot of the front window, or of the display.

It never looks at password managers or at apps you block in Settings › Privacy, and their windows are left out of screenshots. It never reads the text in password fields, though a field's dots can show up in a screenshot. Secrets in command lines and addresses, such as tokens and keys, are removed before anything is sent.

Where it goes

Your question, this context and the screenshot go to your AI provider through your harness. With Claude Code, that means Claude Code sends them to Anthropic to answer, under your own Claude account and Anthropic's terms and privacy policy. Your harness may also read files on your Mac or use tools you've connected to answer; what it reads goes to your provider with the question.

MCP servers you add in Settings › Connections run inside your Claude Code and talk to their own services, under their own terms.

If you turn on ElevenLabs voice, the reply text goes to ElevenLabs to be spoken, under your ElevenLabs account and their terms.

What stays on your Mac

  • Screenshots are kept for 24 hours at most. Settings › Privacy can shorten that to 6 or 1 hour.
  • Conversations and settings are stored on your Mac. Claude Code also keeps its own records of Lumi's conversations under ~/.claude/projects/; Forget in Conversations removes them.
  • Your ElevenLabs key, if you add one, is kept in your Mac's Keychain.
  • Your voice. Speech-to-text, and every voice except ElevenLabs, run on your Mac. Your voice recording never leaves it.
  • The trace log is off by default. When on, it records timings, event types and outcomes, never what you said or saw, and keeps 7 days.

To remove everything, follow the uninstall steps.

Model downloads

When you turn voice on, Lumi downloads a small silence detector from Hugging Face, once. If you choose them, it also downloads the Parakeet speech-to-text model or the Kokoro voice from Hugging Face, once each. Like any download, these requests reach Hugging Face. By default Lumi uses the Mac's own speech recognition and voice; macOS may fetch its English speech files from Apple the first time.
